Title: TV Survival Shows.
Post by: pkveazey on April 13, 2021, 09:37:13 PM
The wife and I watch some of the TV Survival shows and I'm constantly yelling at the TV. Damn!!! Some of those people are dumb as rock. The ones where they stick them out in the middle of nowhere with no clothes really get me. Only twice have I seen them make some kind of foot protection for the soles of their feet. They walk around for 21 days and all I hear is Ouch, Ouch, Ouch. Dammit Dumbass make some kind of shoes. Oh, we need some kind of vessel for liquids. Lets use sections of Bamboo or half of a coconut shell. Hey stupid, what about making things out of clay like the Indians did? So far, I haven't seen even one of them make anything that would help them tell time. Hey, I'm going to go looking for food for about 2 hours. Well, thanks a lot, I'll just sit here looking at my pretend watch. Damn! At least build a sundial. I honestly don't know how those people survive.

We have never watched any of them.

My favorite survival show was Jericho (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0805663/). MrsMac hated it. Her perspective was that, everybody was trying to "hook up" 24/7.

We rarely watch TV, as we don't have cable or satellite.  We can get 7 channels directly with our yagi antenna.  Why watch contrived b.s.?

Johny, we have the Jericho series on CD, though we haven't watched them.  In fact they're still packed in a box somewhere from our move.  I prefer to read, rather than watch the boob tube.

I hear ya' Jackalope.

While I was finishing the inside of the cabin back in 2011 or so, I was there alone much of the time. We had minimal electricity other than what the solar panel provided and lights were all Aladdin kerosene lamps. I did have a Sirius radio which we listened to which kept us abreast of what was happening in the world. At that time had some great old time radio programs too. One of my favorite was, The Shadow. Anyway, I digress.

Anyhow, for the internet I had a 'hot spot pod'. Sometimes we had reception while more often than not we did not. With the hot spot, I use to watch Jericho on my laptop if I had a signal. During that period if MrsMac was at the cabin with me, she would just read using the Aladdin lamp (s) because like I already wrote, she felt that the main theme of the series was "hooking up" with your neighbors wife.

The first and second season were great! The third, the writers were grasping at straws. The last season I never finished as it was a bit out there.

It was good entertainment when the snow was coming down horizontal.  ;)

I like to watch "Alone". They show interesting survival stuff but more importantly to me, they show the mental affects of being in a survival situation alone
