Title: Flash Flood
Post by: special-k on February 25, 2018, 11:47:21 AM
I just experienced a flash flood.  The water came close to my door, but none came in.

I currently rent a house on a large lot which borders a creek & has 4 houses, 2 storage sheds, a large barn, and a 34 foot Class A RV (which was closest to the creek).  My house is furthest from the creek.  The barn and shed got 4 inches.  The landlord stores building materials (business related) in the barn.  Thou$ands in furniture, cabinets, vanities, carpet, padding, etc. are now ruined.  The shed is used by another tenant...I sure some of their stuff in ruined also. One of the houses was 3/4's surrounded by water, but none made it above the crawlspace.

Since I'm the property manager here, I was obligated to execute project codename: "Save the RV that is parked right next to the creek... that hasn't been cranked in over 6 months... and has all sorts of junk leaning against it and stacked around it on all sides (by the tenants)...with windshield wipers that don't work... all while sloshing through rapidly rising and flowing water... in the rain & dark... around midnight."

I bet it was raining pretty hard too.

Did you get the Dial out before you went in after finishing up the RV?

I glad you didn't take a loss other than cleaning up.
