Title: End of Mayan calendar, not end of world
Post by: thatGirl on November 29, 2012, 10:57:25 AM
I thought about posting this in the top secret section, but as I understand it that is reserved for conspiracy posts, not debunking conspiracy posts.  I saw this article talking about how worried folks are that the world is going to end in 3 weeks with the end of the Mayan calendar...

http://news.yahoo.com/2012-mayan-apocalypse-rumors-dark-side-nasa-warns-003208647.html (http://news.yahoo.com/2012-mayan-apocalypse-rumors-dark-side-nasa-warns-003208647.html)

...and the article contains this link to a website that is maintained by NASA to address peoples concerns about the end of the world.

http://www.space.com/14137-2012-doomsday-theories-nasa-interview.html (http://www.space.com/14137-2012-doomsday-theories-nasa-interview.html)

Just as a person of good religious conviction clutches their bible as TSHTF, on December 21st I will be clinging tightly to my tablet (and a bible, just in case) open to this article from NASA, content to believe that the planet is safe as Nibiru comes crashing into us...

Oh btw TG, you're buying me a tablet for xmas... before xmas... buy it on credit, the world is ending  :o

LMAO Is it bad that when you mentioned the bible and tablet the first thing I thought of was a stone tablet?  Would THAT be like the titanium scroll maybe?  :))

Barring any unfortunate circumstances I do believe that we are stuck with each other.  At least till the Zompacolypse, then we can part our separate ways with massive firepower in hopes of bringing final death to the undead!

Don't know bout anyone else, but I will be sitting at the BOL with a beer in one hand and my rifle on my lap surrounded by friends.  Cause hey, it never hurts to be cautious! lol

The wheel is only useful with pack animals to pull it.
Of which south america had none other than the llama.

Since were talking about end of the world crap.... i had a dream a few nights ago... quite clear. A military man of some kind selected me randomly from a group in an airport. The airport power was out. it was dark. I knew something was wrong and said to my friends to keep my gear if i dont return (i had a backpack with minimal supplies). This stereo typical black military man in cammies kindly led me to a kitchen like area and offered me a yellow fruit similar in shape to a pear but similar in color and texture to a banana. I was expecting a shot of some kind to be forced onto me shortly as i ate my snack... a while later it him me that the fruit was the way i was infected. I kinda tried to run off and then a shit ton of infected people were released and ran very fast and grabbed me. Then i woke up.

Moral of the story...Dont eat the fruit... lol

Right no beasts of burden... I use wheels every day in many different forms...yet i have no beast of burden... A cart a man can pull isnt helpful? There are tons of uses for a wheel in rural times with out a beast of burden. They just didnt have a way to make metal parts to make the wheel strong enough with an axle to use it. Im certain theyd have used wheels if they had the ability to make the wheel strong enough to be reliable.

Just like the Romans the Mayans couldn't take care of themselves anymore because the cities were too populated and there was drought and disease the Mayan Empire collapsed because the didn't care. Yet they made calendar saying the world is going to end on the 21 of December yeah right  ::)

The mayans watched the stars and with great accuracy. They predicted eclipes' very accurately hundreds of years in advance. Ironically scientists say we will be going thru some like the galaxy equator or some shit on 21 dec. This is based off shit i read years about about it. But who knows do I think anything will happen no. Do I think the world will end no. Could something happen yeah, and if the poles did shift it certainly wouldnt be the end of the world. Just my thoughts on it.

I'm not sure exactly what the mayans predicted. Just that it was a big event. I don't know how or why.

But, You have to admit they knew something. As the 21st really is a big event. All the planets are going to be aligned for the 1st time in 600,000 years and it only happens every 26,000 years.

I guess we will see what happens.  [url=http://www.freesmileys.or

Don't beat yourself up too much Reaver, you were only off by like 23 fold!

That's funny!  It didn't occur to me, but now that you mention it I'm picturing Mel Brooks as Moses holding up the "titanium scroll"!

For now, I'm still a pc kinda gal, so I've actually been thinking about the Samsung Ativ Tablet to replace my laptop.  I have a monitor and a keyboard that should all plug right in to eachother, so the fat finger typing issues mentioned in the article wouldn't be a concern...

Cool story Ken, but I think I would have changed it to "led me to a gun shop and offered me a tray of clams"LOL!
