Visited a gun show down the road a bit.  Came home with a 420 round can of Federal .56 ($160)and a 1000 round box ($190) of 9s.

The 5.56 is in cardboard sleeves of 3 stripper clips of 10 rounds each.  Easy to stuff a mag quick.

Nemo

Sounds like a nice score :)

Show will be back in Salem next weekend.  I'd bet the same prices will be around and about there.  Come on over.  Fair warning, I will be recruiting for VCDL and put the hard sell on you if you come by.  I be there about all day Sunday.

I think its Roanoke next weekend.

Trying to save money but came across a deal I couldn't pass up.

Got a brand new North American Rescue WALK Kit. S&H pushed the price just over $200.

Plan to keep it in a vehicle when I go camping and will definitely be a much appreciated tool when I finally ditch the city to live in the country.

That is a steal! I’m insanely jealous. I have been wanting to add a walk kit to my stash for a while now. I need to go to Bragg and check out the surplus stores.

My wife thought that I lost my mind. I saw one of those blood sugar testing machines on Amazon and bought it for my Medical kit. The wife said I was nuts because we don't have diabetes. I told her that for  for $20, it was a bargain and it would come in real handy in collapse situation. There is a ton of stuff in my med kit that I won't need but somebody else might need.

I spent a good part of the afternoon cleaning and oiling some firearms, using Breakfree Collector, which is a long term storage lubricant and preservative.  Unfortunately, I jammed up a revolver, where the hammer wouldn't go forward or backward.  I called my local arms dealer and he said bring it on over.  He had it working in 30 seconds.  Apparently while cleaning, the cylinder was some how misaligned.  So it was an easy fix.  And while I was there I made arrangements for the delivery of some .308, since most, but not all, ammunition retailers will only deliver to a FFL in New Yorkistan.  Did some reading too!

I went for a short ruck with plate carrier (under a jacket) + bag. Total weight was about 45lbs.

If you’re in NC check out Red Horse Surplus. I got a WALK with the litter for 55 bucks. I got a ACH with multicam cover and the new strap set up for 110. I’m going to stop by there again next month and look for anything else. I’m going to be picking things up for the TCCC class too. Haha. I do need some wet weather gear and they have a lot. Including the old school woodland stuff.

Good project Kbop!  I've been working on a chicken coop and a safe area for my girls.  Today I'll run a couple more strands of electric fence.  My four legged companion inadvertently tested the electric fence yesterday, so I know it works!  I'm using a solar powered electric fence controller and apparently it works well.  The coop has an automatic closing door, which will hopefully provide another level of safety.  I have to work early in the day before it gets too hot.

`

Ordered a crap load of comms along with a few spare batts & antennas.  Still organizing & setting up my new expanded reloading room (amazing how much room you get when a couple kids have left the nest) as well as organizing all the builds I'm gathering parts for.  Wife hit the farmers market & we'll probably be doing some canning especially over the weekend.

Hi

Haven't been on for a while. What have I done. Ordered a radio with mic and ear peace. But what is the more important question-What haven't I done to prep today? And that is the Crux of the matter. As a South African we counting down the days till the collapse. Its a given nobody can deny it. Our Government is incompetent and hanging on by the skin of their teeth. But I feel I am running out of time and feel no where closer to finishing.

Home Depot's been having the Plano Sportsman trunks 56qt (black) and 108qt (od green ) on sale. So I've bought a few to help organize gear.

2 of the green ones are already stuffed full w chest rigs. (I think I have a problem . . . nope never enough rigs.) I have 1 black one to fill w rifle mags and another one empty for pouches n miscellaneous gear. About to go buy a 3rd to fill w food for bugout/minuteman/ general outdoor readiness.

. . .probably buy another green one while Im there even though a 3rd one is empty at my house lol. But to be honest thats about to be filled also. Helps to be organized.

Also ordered 2 SADF m83 chest rigs from a dealer online and 5 Blackhawk coyote "rhodesians" from eBay for $30 a piece. Why? Because Dems are going to select a fucken commie as there Presidential nominee thats why. Will he win? No. Will there eventually be blood? Abso-freakin-lutely.

As with many others out here, Working to replenish the Medical supplies. Everyday Over-The-Counter items. Tylenol, Flu/Cough medicines, AntiAcid, Sudafed, Allergy meds, First Aid Bandages various sizes.
Thoughts are if the supply deliveries begin drying up, Have yours well stocked. I work to keep a 6 month supply on most items.
My mindset is Bug-In, hold-the homestead. Defending until Over-My-Dead-Body...

Also paid a visit to local hardware. Keeping tools and consumables stocked. Glue, 100mph Tape, 550 Cord, Liquid Nails, etc.

Homestead is very self-contained. Wood Stove heat for 2000sq/ft home, 2500 gallon Gravity feed water system (3 Mountain Springs on Property), Propane cooking. Working on the Solar, so when THEY pull the plug on us, we have some electrical available think Refrigerator/Freezer...

Comms, an ongoing prep.

Good stuff NCislander.

Interesting story...I was at the local very small CVS in our little town yesterday picking up a Rx. While I was there I thought I would get some extra supplies; excedrin, cough medicine, allergy meds, MucinexDM, etc. I was blown away with the empty holes I saw on shelves.

A clerk was in the aisle putting away some merchandise and I said to her, "looks like your truck is late" motioning to the empty shelves. She said, "no. It is that Chinese virus thing. People are stocking up."

Again, depending on what stats you look at, the USofA receives 80-90% of their meds from China/India and 97% of our antibiotic comes from China.

Exactly my point.
We all look many times for items to "Prep" for. The everyday consumables we use sometime get taken for granted.  Stock up while shelves in your part of the country are plentiful. Our small town local stores so far, are well stocked. May not always be that way.

Finally broke down and bought a Berkey water filter. Was gonna buy some military 5 gal water cans at $24 a piece but ended up buying a 10pk of 3.5 gal water bricks for $50.

Water is way more important than anything else here in the southwest.

Edit: Glad to hear my Berkey shipped as it seems most of the Berkeys have sold out online.
