What a productive weekend.
Made some RTCM-ready to cook meal packs.
And practiced my patience skill set to the limit with the fam.
The meal packs were made up of measured amounts of either rice or pasta and then added beef/chicken stock cube as well as a sauce packet and then either a topper was added (soy meat replacement) or if available regular meat can be used with the ingredients. Just add canned mix veg (if you have stock) and presto. Full meal for my entire family (expected to be housing at that point).

Had a lot of things added to my list to make.
Need to look into more of these packs. especially adding stuff like dried fruits and veg.
Need to also look at getting a vacuum sealer of my own, currently borrowing our neighbors
I suppose one needs to make these things work one way or another.

Great job RM!

I did similar a couple of months ago and added the meals to the bag I leave in the truck.

My favorite B.O.B. recipe is:

1 Cup Jasmin rice
1/2 Cup dried veggie (carrots, broccoli, etc),
1 bullion cube, and
4 oz beef or pork jerky.

Vacuum seal the mess.

To eat, boil 3 cups of water pour in the mix and simmer for 20 or so minutes. Some times with 5 min. or so left to cook I add in some up to 1/2 cup more water.

That is a great recipe, i have been looking at different kinds of cereal bars aswell.

You guys have beef jerky, we have biltong. I guess its similar? i have no idea, never tasted beef jerky before.
Biltng is however really getting too expensive to add to that list unless i can hunt and dry some myself.

I am looking into using something like oats bars? adding some nuts and dried fruits and so on, need to go get ingredients for that however.

I noticed that the vacuum sealer bags can be microwaved and boiled. it made me think of what we call sosaties. If you chop up meat into bite sized cubes and stick them on a long stick, vacuum seal them  freeze to store and then cook the whole bag they should be good to go, so if i have a portable freezer i can chuck them in there and off we go.

Exercised twice.. a run at lunchtime and an iron pump after work.. the iron pump was mostly designed around muscle groups that aid in weapons handling and stability.
Every day, men who will follow orders to kill you, exercise. Do you?

I'm looking into freeze drying, making pemmican and pressure canning meat - so i can pick one to experiment with.

Purchased 400 rounds Winchester military 9mm ammo.  Worked out about $8.96 a box of 50.

Kbop,
what are you being charged to have your sheep sheared? My neighbor charges...

> $65- just for the Shearer to show up and then,
> $15- per sheep.

I am glad to see that some folks are still buying ammo. Hopefully to replenish your cashes because you are practicing.

This is over the last 3 weeks. Rotated out dated canned goods.  Put up another 60 days worth (3 ppl) of food stores.  Added another 10 gal of fresh water.  Bulk purchased ammo to replenish training stores (10k 5.56 , 8k 9mm).  Actually started in on my AARL technicians license manual. Took a local defensive carbine class.

Now that Spring has hit the marine industry that I primarily work in is really starting to go off. That was probably my last activity for the next 3 months.....other than working on the Technicians Manual when I get free time and can keep myself awake.

Hah, You must not have ever heard of how to get a million $$ in the marine industry.  Start with $2mil, lose the first $1mil and bingo you have $1mil.

Of course I would like to have that first Mil to lose to start with  :o . For how expensive the products are the margins to the manufacturers and dealers is very weak compared to many industries.

Today was productive.  I took my guard dog to the vet for some much needed shaving and toe nail work.  This afternoon, all of my gardens were rototilled for the first time this year.  Hopefully, I'll get some potatoes planted tomorrow.  Also today, the garlic plants were weeded, and they are coming up nicely.

Last weekend, I visited a Cabelas up near Portland, Maine and bought some bulk 5.56.  I also got some .50 BMG projectiles and some powder for reloading the big .50 BMG, while visiting a gun show.  We also got some range time in and had a chance to try out a Windham Weaponry 5.56 AR-15 set up for three round bursts.  I've got to get one of those with tons of ammo.  It'll take some practice to get accustomed to three round bursts.  My son and I also practiced with a Keltec KSG set up with a silencer-awesome firearm!  I also got some time in with my EDC pistol.  I'll definitely be returning for some classes with Windham Weaponry.

the going rate seems to be 15-20 per sheep - ours charges 20 plus we donated to an animal rescue they run - plus we have multiple types of critter needing shearing - sheep, alpaca, llama - my wife likes to work with the fiber.

I ordered a bucket of freeze dried Wise meals from an ad I received from Midway.
Removed alot of outdated dried foods from storage for recycling.
Labeled my ammo cans with the caliber ammo contained within.

With 7000 grains in a pound you get what, 50 to 80 rounds per pound of powder?

Those are smart pills. I told a fellow that those were smart pills and the more of them he ate, the smarter he would become. He ate one and said, "These taste like Sheep turds". I said, Well, there you go. You're getting smarter already."
