Tick' Tock'
« on: September 14, 2012, 02:37:29 PM »
When ever i watch an older movie or listen to an older song i find myself wishing i was back in that time. They didnt have to worry about the shit hitting the fan back then. Here and now we go through life with a giant clock ticking over our heads. Really sucks knowing its all going to end soon. Almost like knowing the day youll die. Anyone else felt this way recently?

What I hate is the uncertainty. If I know I am going to die I can plan for it. If I know for certain that the US economy is going to collapse I can plan for it.

Grim but true.

There were lots of preppers back in cold war days. People have built entire bunkers under their houses.

And SHTF is not the end. SHTF won't last forever. What we have now may never come back, but Anarchy will not last forever. We will win or die.

OR, shtf, the economy turning into a smoking hole, etc... may NEVER happen in our lifetimes. You gotta find a healthy balance in life, be aware and ready, but don't forget to enjoy the life you have now. How that works out in your situation is up to you. If your feeling out of sorts, dread, or just having a shitty time, then for the love of the gods, change it! Seen enough of the old survivalist from back in the 70's turn into cynical and miserable old assholes, without much love in their lives. Living life on the whims of the doomsday clock, your doing it wrong.

Yes and no. Im Type A personality. Im either all in or all out. I make things happen. I attack the challenge. So unfourtunatly i will fall back asleep if im not all in. As it is now the impending doom is near so i must stay alert. For me this means stay bummed out to some degree. Dont get me wrong, im not playing old records, Drinking vodka and looking through the blinds all day. Think of it more as i am Hyper appreciating the things around me now and feel lucky to have them around me. Kind of like a long distance gf the night before she goes away for many months. Your happy shes here but your also kind of sad because you know shes leaving soon.

But i think we all would buy ourselves another 20 years if we could.

Most of you will see the economy fail within 20 years the us will see over 100 trillion in unfunded liablities coming due. With that said yeah i hear songs or shows from the "good ol days" and frankly its all about prospective. For guys like me, ejr, TG, and 505th what was the good ol days for you younger guys was a day in the grind for us, in turn what was the good ol days for us was a grind for guys like JM, Sledge, 1Kmeter. Its all part of growing up, the other day EJR and myself were working and had the Ipod on listening to some ODB and it brought back some high school memories. But Crudos is right enjoy the day to day, whats the point in being miserable living thru a shitty time and still being miserable? Because if SHTF tomorrow, Today is going to look like the "good ol' days". That being said boys to quote "Atlas Shrugged" "spend it on yourself". Take the money you were going to spend this week on preps and go out!

If your prepping for some sort of disaster you feel the clock ticking... If not your just insane to spends thousands on something you dont think will ever happen. None of us live life to "the fullest" on here. If we did then wed never prep anything and never go train when partying sounds better. It is a balance. I feel like im getting a high horse vibe from some of you. Get down or im shooting your horse in the leg...lol

Wow, I couldn't have said it better. I almost drove myself crazy a few months ago because I really thought something was going to happen very soon. Then I thought to myself, I'm 19 it's okay to party and have fun and enjoy my other hobbies (that don't include preparing for the end of the world or looking at chemtrails all day).

What it boils down to hope for the best, but PREP for the worst. As long as you feel you are prepared enough to survive, everything else is just a bonus.

Just have fun guys, don't look back and think to yourself "Damn I wish I would have taken my kids to Disney instead of buying my new AR" or "Look at me, single and old, and shit still hasn't hit the fan, I wasted my life prepping and scared everyone away."
I'm a prepper, in a hipster kind of way.

LOL well most of yall no I enjoy my life, from blogtv's or from on the phone. But I have seen guys burn out from going over board. And frankly the MOST important part of prepping is your mind, which is why I can believe how little traffic the D.I.Y. section gets. And Mr. Tactic that isnt pointed at you.

P.S. PM in bound

Hey guys, you need to chill out a little and enjoy life. If economy collapses or the SHTF for another reason, you have your preps and you know what to do.

But don't stay all day watching the clock ticking waiting for the world to end, because there will be a day when you'll discover you missed all your life waiting for something that never happened.

I'm telling you this because I lived all my life in this motherfucking country I was born (Argentina), and since I can remember there is people telling "ohh man, it is now, the economy will collapse in less than 3 months" or "before the end of this year, we are fucked" and you know what? My country is extremely fucked up and the economy sucks, but the fucking life continues as always!!

In Argentina in the '86 there was a crash just like the one you all know in 2001, and here I am, life goes on, the motherfucking country and political system resets every 10 years and re invents itself.

Just be ready for the worst but hope for the best, and enjoy your life while you can, collapses aren't "Patriots" style.

Ken, I have that same gut feeling - that we are staring over the edge of a cliff.  QE unlimited, political brushfires being set around the Middle East, most of America on the Government dole, etc.  Empirical evidence points to the fact we are at a crossroads.  Time for America to get its head out of its ass. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Sometime back in the spring I got all burnt out with prepping, politics and what have you... I was reasonably comfortable with my preps. So I said fuck it and put it all on the back burner and tuned out completely. Had a great time partying, drinking, chasing tail and met some of the funnest people I've ever hung out with that I wouldn't have been able to stand a few months prior. So take GAP's advice and hit the town... Just not literally like I did  [img]http://www.arrse.co.uk/at That's a whole new  world of  pain.

I actually "Hit the town" too much... i recently quit drinking because it was getting out of hand... My fun VS. Preps is well balanced if not too heavy on the fun side at times.
