The Left's New Targets: Supreme Court and Electoral College

This morning, I added numerous quotes from Democratic presidential candidates about packing the Supreme Court. The issue, as progressives outline, is that no matter how well Democrats do in House, Senate, and presidential elections, a conservative Supreme Court will stand to strike down progressive measures it sees as unconstitutional.

Democrats point to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's 2016 decision not to hold confirmation hearings for Obama-pick Merrick Garland as the beginning of the Supreme Court fight. Since then, President Trump has added two conservative justices, and Democrats are now scheming ways to nuke the Court's conservative majority.

By constitutional law, there is no set number of Supreme Court justices. The Congress ultimately gets to decide how many are seated, which is why Democrats are salivating over the opportunity to remake the Supreme Court. First, though, they have to retake the Senate and the presidency.

For as much as the Left accuses President Trump of "bending the guardrails of Democracy," packing the Supreme Court and abolishing the Electoral College are two measures that actually remove guardrails, not merely bend them. And both of these decisions would heavily favor Democrats for future elections.

These changes are not imminent. It may take several more election cycles for Democrats to gain the absolute power required to make these changes. But it's clear that Democrats want them. For me, this begs the question of whether America is ready to have these kinds of fights. I also wonder how changes like these would fuel domestic unrest and possible political violence. This is another reason why I believe that we have some politically darker days ahead of us.

When you can't win then change the rules. This new push is fear. Fear that the citizens of the USofA are waking up and "they" know it.

What I wonder is...What happens if Mr. Trump wins in 2020? If Trump does win in 2020 I suspect the Senate will remain GOP and the House will switch back to GOP.

If nothing comes out of Muller's Report, I suspect we will see a glimpse of what will happen post Trump's reelection to President in 2020.

 I feel who ever wins there will be a full on civil war. If President Trump wins reelection the left will go bat S**T crazy and if President Trump loses you know there is voter fraud. It was reported that over one million illegal aliens voted in the mid term elections on Fox News.

One of the Congressmen from my State has been very vocal around here about abolishing the Electoral College.  Lets think about this, If it were not fo the EC then the state of RI would have zero....hell less than zero influence on the election.  On one hand the Dems (who run this f-ing state) are scared because we are losing population at a rate that will result in our state losing a Rep in the House potentially before the next election cycle.  As a result they are pushing for the recognition of illegals so we can bulk up the population numbers. So on one hand they are afraid of losing representation in Congress and on the other hand they are actively pushing for an end that will eliminate any influence (what little there is for RI) we may have.     IDIOTS!

Try looking at it from the big picture. W/O the EC the ONLY states that will count are NYC, CA, Fl, PA and NJ - the states that have the highest density of city dwelling sheeple. The other 45 states will have zero votes count.

CO just passed a law (maybe considering passing?) that would state that all their EC votes will go to the nations popular vote results regardless of who the people in Co actually support

When we moved to Rhode Island our property taxes were were around $2,300. When we finally sold our house our property taxes were just south of $9,000.

Add to that equation the income tax's which went up during the 21-years we lived there. When we moved in, 1996 income tax was 4.99% - Now 6.99%. Sales tax went up to 7% on consumer goods and 8% for meals during this twenty-one years too. 

There are a whole host of other small town taxes that I do not have in PA, e.g. car tax, trash tax, fire department tax, etc., etc., etc., the list of taxes goes on and on.

Rhode Island was a very friendly 2A state when we moved in. Well over the years with folks retiring to the state from NJ, NY, and CT every year, we had to fight the slow slide of the anti-gun left every year.

The last straw was the crime rate. Starting around 2007 the crime rate started to rise year over year. Mostly petty crime however violent crime rose too. I was the Chairman of the towns Coastal Commission so I had access to arrest statistics. Most of the criminals caught ended up being illegal aliens. Go figure 

So MrsMac and I left the state a truly beautiful state we loved living in.

I know Chris you are looking to leave RI as are many other folks, pillars of the community. Guess what will be left?
