Sunglasses
« on: January 28, 2018, 01:19:33 PM »
I keep seeing advertisements for military sun glasses so I went on line to get more information on them. They seem to be the exact same thing as my fishing glasses. The only difference is that mine are full frame and $8.00 cheaper and yes they wrap around just like the military type.
Is there something special I am missing? I would hate to buy them when mine are the same.

Technically military sunglasses are supposed to be "ballistic".
This means meeting a fairly high ANSI standard for impact resistance.

They are not bulletproof obviously but are intended to protect from concrete back splatter in a firefight and the like.

This is also useful when shooting at steel targets from shortrange and the like.
A pretty good feature.

Keep hunting.  I found one of the Atomic Beam flashlights on Amazon for $7.

I am confident similar results for the shades are out there.

Stick to decent quality, reputable manufacturers for your glasses.  Your eyes are not something to fool around with.  If you can get then for $20 they probably are not worth it. Companies like Smith, Oakley, Wiley X, and others put significant testing into their ballistic lenses. I have seen Smith's testing and it is impressive.  I am not shilling for any of  these over another, but from experience of having a small steel splinter removed from an eye DO NOT CHEAP OUT ON EYE PRO!

I agree, now I know they're not worth it . Before laser's I had a piece of steel removed from my eye, the doctor used an electric drill similar to a dentist drill. Speak about trust seeing the drill bit coming to your eye.
