Some stuff I'd like to know/learn
« on: October 11, 2011, 01:42:12 PM »
Not going to be too fancy with this post, just flying by the seat of my pants here. Gonna list out some things that I'd like to learn and stuff. Hopefully those of you who know how to do some of these things post up on how to do it. Sharing the wealth of knowledge.

If anyone else has thing that they want to learn, feel free to post it up here :))

1- building a smoker (smoke house, whatever y'all call it), and how to properly use it.

2- building a forge and then forging metal.

3- is it possible to set up a type of radio tower, that'll increase your radios range? like, say for example, your run of the mill FRS radio only reach out 4 miles, is it possible to set up some sort of small antenna on a higher elevation to let em go out to like, 6-7 miles?

4- Home made booze. Kind of a touchy subject, if y'all don't want to talk about that on here that's fine with me.

5- home made wind turbine. How to build one, how to set it up, and how to use it to power stuff.

That's just a few of the things I'd like to know here now. So if you guys can post up what you already know, some links, whatever, that'll be golden. And like I said, post up other things that you would like to learn. This whole site is for helping each other. Share what you know with the other people, get stuff out there. We all aren't close together so we can't physically pass on the wealth of knowledge that we all have oozing out of us, so post it up here.

Rock on.

I dunno how to make any of that stuff but would like to learn as well as you, Frosty. But I'm willing to bet that you could get number 1 & 2 in a combo build since your obviously gonna have smoke from number 2.

4.  Look here on how to make pure alcohol:  http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-make-a-still/  Fairly simple actually.

Please check all your federal, state, and local laws before trying anything like this.  You are liable for your own actions.  Also, look at permits.

Alcohol Still:

Here is a video on ethanol production:

Also, here is a video on how ethanol is actually made:

Here a couple of more on wind generators from the same guy.  He tells you where to get the parts and how to make them.
He uses it to power all of the equipment in his shop.  Really cool the way he does it.  Anyone can.

4 outta 5, I guess I need to set up that base station one of these days. Yeah I'm one of those crazy eyed old guys, also life doesn't get much more interesting than when you've ignited an out of control magnesium fire in your smelter.
