Huge problem

I usually need to jump start my lawn mower because there is so much compression that the battery has trouble making that first engine rotation. Today, after a monster rainstorm, I pulled the 4WD Expedition around back to help boost the energy to the starter. Oh, Hell no..... Alll 4 wheels sunk down to the hubs and it's stuck in the back yard up to the hubs. I friend came over to help pull me out with his 4WD pickup and almost got himself stuck. Well, the Expedition is still stuck up to the hubs. I'm screwed. My mechanic friend is supposed to come by tomorrow with an impact wrench to install new blades on my lawnmower. I'm going to have to ask him to bring his rollback and see if he can get the Expedition pulled out. If he can't, then I'm going to have to spend some big bucks to get it unstuck. I spent about an hour trying to get it unstuck and overexerted myself and ending up windewd, feeling super weak, and dizzy. I was afraid that I might end up with a heart attack so I just came inside and tried to relax. It's almost phone net time so I'm going to try to participate. My advice is..... Don't do stupid things when you are pushing 80 years old.

Not sure if you are close (Northeastern PA), but I have a couple of mud boards. If you were right down the road I'd lend them to you (I'm up near Elkmtn). You basically put them under the wheel to get traction to try and work yourself out, might not work if your buried up to/over the hubs. As a kid we used cheap come-a-longs for winching and getting unstuck, but if you already have someone coming hopefully they can recover your truck from the mud. no fun, sorry. Best to take it easy, and have the guy stopping by free it up.

Not sure if you are aware, but everything in your link after the first question mark ( ? ) helps link back to your viewing.  If I post a link with that format, I make sure to delete that first ( ? )  and everything after that.

Might want to consider that idea when posting links.

JohnyMac: Still got the huge problem. I was going to wait until the ground dried out and dig out around the tires so I could just drive it out. What???? Oh, No! Now it has been raining again all day. I'm just going to have to wait it out until the ground is dry. I could just drop $400 and have a wrecker with a boom arm lift ands pull but I don't drive the Expedition all that much, so I'll just wait it out. I don't care if I have to wait until July. One thing's for sure.... I will get that damned thing out of there. My last resort is to ask the farmer about 1/4 mile away (Part of my MAG) to bring his big tractor up here and get it out. I hate to ask people for help, but as a last resort, I actually do ask for help sometimes.

I?d jack it up and put some 2x6?s or 2x8?s under the tires, after the ground dries up some.  Buried a Ford 8N rear tires up to the axle during a Spring thaw.  There was a sinkhole in the road due to the thaw.  Got a neighbor to help pull it out with his tractor.  Couldn?t jack it up because it was like quicksand.

      Along those lines, I got stuck in some Spring thaw ?quicksand? while at a construction site where my Dad was working. I was 11-12 years old, wearing some of those black buckle up winter boots.  Everytime I moved, I sunk a little deeper.  I didn?t want to yell for help because I thought I?d get in trouble.  Someone driving by noticed my predicament and alerted my Dad?s construction crew.  They had to form a human chain to pull me out. I remember one fellow had his work boot sucked off by the muck.  All this occurred almost 60 years ago.

Still Stuck but the Farmer in my MAG is going to bring his big tractor up here tomorrow and that will get it unstuck. I've dug out around all 4 wheels. He is going to hook up to the trailer hitch and lift as he pulls. Once the back wheels are up and out, then the frame will no longer be touching the ground. Problem almost solved. I'll let y'all know when it's unstuck.

I'm a happy man. After I took my car into the shop and replaced the front brake pads and a bad wheel speed sensor, I came home and the Farmer with the tractor showed up and pulled the Expedition out in a couple of minutes and then he used his front bucket to drag all the dirt back into the holes. He said that he was getting ready to put the tiller on the tractor and till his garden area and he would come back up here and till the area where I was stuck. He only lives about 1000 feet down the road so it's no big deal to him. He is a member of our neighborhood MAG and didn't want me to pay him, but I made him take $50 and told him to take his family out to eat. If I had called my friend with a wrecker company, it would have cost me hundreds to get the SUV unstuck.

What in the world just happened? I was cutting the grass on my second acre which is connected to the acre that my house sits on, and my neighbor who has MS rode up to me on his lawn tractor. He is also a member of our neighborhood MAG. While we were talking, my other neighbor, with the tractor, came up here and rototilled the spots where we had made holes in the yard when I got stuck. When I finished talking and then finished the grass cutting, there was the area all neat and pretty. I never saw the guy while he was tilling the bad spots. How can that happen? That guy has a big ass tractor. The guy with the tractor is also a member of our MAG. :what:
