I want one!
« on: July 29, 2018, 02:05:31 PM »
2019 Jeep pickup truck, I saw a white one this morning. I'll have to hit the lottery first.  BEAUTIFUL! It looked like the red one in the add.

Looks good. BUT, Jeep would have to show me for a few years or so that they have upgraded the quality of their vehicles before I buy one.

My thoughts exactly

They make some of the best looking vehicles but they are tethered to some of the worse repair records

I wouldn't buy another one.  I've been screwed already twice for repairs on a Jeep Wrangler with supposedly a lifetime unlimited mileage warranty.  I'll probably keep this one until it truly falls apart though, because new vehicle prices are so high.  However, I'm still looking for another Hummer H3, it was the best vehicle I've ever had in wintery conditions.

I'm on my second Jeep. My first was a 1996 Cherokee which I totaled, it only had 129,000 miles on it. The one I have now is a 2005 Liberty and it has 149,806 miles on it. The only problems I had with either was the radiator in the Cherokee. I changed oil every 15,000 (fifteen thousand) miles and I only used Mobil One oil and I used the best oil filter.
What problems are you talking about because I have never had a problem other than normal maintenance?

They stopped making Hummers in 2011, so used is the only way to go.  I'm on my second Jeep too, and I'll never buy another one.  It's a 2014 Wangler Unlimited, it gets oil changes every 7000 miles, synthetic oil only.   The latest problem was a faulty oil sensor/switch, which caused the check engine light to come on.  I diagnosed it, and made an appointment with a dealer.  The mechanic checked it, and determined that the oil sensor/switch was indeed faulty, and according to the internet it's a common problem.  The service manager explains that the switch is not covered under the lifetime engine and powertrain warranty.  I'm like WTF, the sensor is part of the engine, he says, no, it's considered an accessory.  I guess under Jeep's definition the radiator is also considered an accessory.  $700 later the vehicle is back on the road.

I should have learned with my first Jeep, which was purchased brand new, a CJ-7.  Within four years the rear wheel wells and the hood had rusted completed through.  I'm not talking pinhole perforations, but 1"-2" holes, the hole in the hood was 5"-6" long.  I've never seen a vehicle rust like that.  It was to the point that it wasn't safe, so I unloaded it cheap.

Jeep has a very poor service reputation, and I've experienced it.

@ jackalope I was a auto mechanic for Chrysler for 18years 1964 to 2002 and that has always been their warranty. The engine, transmission and rear axle hard parts are warrantied. The cooling system, fuel system, A/C and electrical systems are not covered. Because the salesmen never tell the customer they think the warranty covers everything. I'm not completely sure but every American auto manufacturer has or had the same warranty.
The CJ7 if I remember correctly was made by Rambler and that was before the Rust Thru warranties were in effect.

Its some kind of trickery or such calling it the "power train" warranty.  Not the other unnecessary add on stuff.

Have you ever heard of an honest car salesman? I never have and manufactures are just as bad because they set the warranty standards.

Hey, Hey, I sold cars for a couple years.  Chevys, and Pontiac, Buick and GMCs.  I have inside knowledge of all those things.
