A Challenge to the Forum
« on: July 03, 2018, 09:11:28 AM »
MrsMac and I every year reread the Declaration of Independence. When living in Rhode Island, a bunch of us would read it at the WWI 'Dough Boy' memorial statue. Now we do it as just two of us.

Next year I am going to organize a reading at my small towns war memorial. But I am drifting from my challenge to the forum.

I challenge all the forum members to reread Declaration of Independence either as just yourself or with love ones. Once you do it, share your thoughts here of what you read.

I will try to be part of a public reading of that tomorrow.  At Poplar Forest, Forest, Va.  The "away from it all" home of Thomas Jefferson.
( https://www.poplarforest.org/ )  If I cannot get a paragraph this year, I will really try for it next year.  Admission is $9.  Load up and head this way.

Did Red Hill back a bit. ( https://www.redhill.org/ ) Ever hear of Patrick Henry, the -- "Liberty, the greatest of all earthly blessings - give us that precious jewel, and you may take every thing else!"- Speech in the Virginia Convention of 1788.

He also did the Give me Liberty or Give me Death thing.  When there a 6th generation direct descendant of his was in proper attire and redid that speech to the Va legislature.

You gotta hear it to understand.  But it can actually inspire you to accept and act as he said.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

I read it and still believe in it. At the time of this writing there were no distractions like automobile and airplane noise, TV, radio the internet or instant news. They spent their time thinking. I believe we have great men today also but are distracted with modern life. It is these men or women who we must find and elect them into office so they may keep AMERICA free.
In principle, no less than in practice, socialism is the ideology of thieves and tyrants.
