Actually we have found the Hi-Point to out shoot many of the much more expensive pistols.Yes, ya gotta step up to a couple of grand or more if you need one-inch groups at 50 yards, but then you won't be carrying that pretty little puppy with you in the pickup or anywhere else it might get a scratch. But if you can tolerate a handgun that gives you two inches at 50 feet – which covers most $1,000 guns, too – then a $205 Hi-Point will fit the bill (and how many of us can shoot that accurately without the bench anyway?).

Hi-Points are made for real use in any environment, which may mean shoving it into a tackle box when fishing in dangerous areas, banging around in a glove compartment, car trunk, tool box, farm tractor case, or back pack. I have also come away from the super nice guns..

If I were to start over most of my guns would be entry level brands and spend the money saved on training and ammo.

Yep. I have a Hi Point 9mm Carbine. I also bought a 380 High Point pistol for my (over 21) grandson. When somebody is shooting at you, you don't stop and think about how much that other guys pistol costs. Another good and inexpensive handgun is the Bersa 380.

I been eyeing the current gen HI Point Carbine also.

While it is not as good as an AR 15 but it is tons better than a hand gun yet cna use 9mm ammo.

There is  a lot of affordable 9mm ammo out there one could cache.
To my surprise the TulAmmo 9mm seems to do real well for accuracy and "hotness".. (even though as posted elsewhere their .223 loads are my least favorite)

Magazines fitting both handgun and carbine,  problems mail it back and fixed with no questions, cheap inexpensive and reliable but ugly as can be.  Works for me.

Here's something to think about. When you use 9 mm ammo in a handgun, the muzzle velocity is whatever is marked on the box. When used in a carbine with a 16.5" barrel, you get an extra 200 feet per second. It took me a few minutes to do the math but it worked out to about 235 feet per second extra speed in my carbine.
