Holiday sales and prepping
« on: December 03, 2017, 06:41:13 PM »
While I do shake my head in pity and disgust at seeing people fight to the death over saving $25 over a flat screen tv. I also go to stores at the end of the day to pick over the left overs and see what I can get that is prepping related. Preps, camping gear, tools, and particularly cold weather gear since in a worse case Mountainous alpine regions will be the safe havens, if there are any, in my area.

Probably buy the niece and nephew earth toned outdoor/urban/greyman quality clothing for cooler climates that they can wear everyday.

Anybody else taking advantage of sales?

We have so many to gift to that it is impossible to shop. We give the same gift to everyone, MONEY. One size fits all and no returns. I do buy for my better half and she lets me buy my own. :)

I ask her what she wants, get approval before ordering then wrap it up when it gets here.  Amazon is great.  She just shops for me and gives me the receipt if I want to return something

The rest get a great dinner if they come to our house the announced date prior to Christmas.  And a nice card in the mail.

Got the nephew a jacket made by Columbia in a forest/olive green. The inside has fleece for the body and primaloft for the sleeves, shell seems rough n tough like a Carhartt. It's good quality that'll last him for years and be highly valued in shtf. The earth tone color won me over! I thought to myself " This'll help keep him from being spotted by snipers!". Hahahaha  :lmfao:

He doesn't know how to shit in the woods but his gf left for college up north. I'm planning to slowly get him gear that he can also use when he travels to be w her. Now he has a barncoat for the roadtrips and bad weather. Plan to get him into hiking and camping by arguing he can post pics of himself on social media to still appear interesting to his girl and not jerking off to Call of Duty.

Niece is gonna be tougher to handle. Also got my self a thin packable down jacket in forest/olive green.

EDIT: Got these items on clearance. We are so wasteful as a society.

Well being a lady and loving online deals i got myself a new tent and a small 3 kg gas cylinder and some really interesting small items that come in handy when camping or for SHTF.

I have noticed online in SA grow substantially in the last year.

We now also boast black Friday sales (hogwash) in my opinion.
The true deals are always in January when the stores clear unsold stock.
We usually did our Christmas shopping in January after Christmas madness.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a super giant 4 wheeled amazing gift coming my way(hopefully).
SHTF bucket list item for sure.

So shopping around for more deals and savings. Cannot wait to try them all out.
Found an amazing local guy who makes bags for hunting/camping.
