A couple of years ago, My 19 yo daughter entered our local town pageant. She had previously taught herself American Sign Language, she's pretty good at it. I had to work, and couldn't attend this pageant. Anyway, for her talent portion, she signed to Alan Jackson's "Sissy's Song". When she was finished, the wife said that the crowd applauded and cheered very loud. A lot of them had tear filled eyes. She won the pageant, and told me about winning, on the phone. I was very proud, and wished that I had been there. The following year, when it was time for her to turn her title over to a new queen, they asked my daughter to do a couple of time fillers, while the contestants changed outfits, etc. She had planned to sign a couple different songs. I wished she would do "Sissy's Song" so I could see it. She said, people don't want to see the same song as last year. Without me knowing, she sent my younger daughter back to the house for the track for "Sissy's Song". So when she came out and they announced her and what she was doing, I kind of melted, cause I knew she was only doing it for me. As I watched, it took everything I had to hold it together. When she was done, she looked at me in the crowd. I mouthed the words, I love You, and blew her a kiss. She did the same. Below is a girl doing it on Youtube. It's just to give you an idea of what the song is, and what it looks like signed. You'll just have to imagine my daughter in her gown up on the stage.
