Feeling Philosophic Today
« on: September 12, 2017, 03:38:37 PM »
Many of my friends think that the past can be preserved. Well unfortunately like a birth of a baby the process has begun and we are moving down the birthing canal and out to the light of a new alien world.

My theory is that as we move from an industrial nation to something else, the turmoil we are all seeing whether it be political, divisions among us, or wars - We are just experiencing the pains of giving birth to a new world and economy.

This birthing process will be painful and we will experience greater division among us. Between the folks who want to hold onto the past Vs. the folks who welcome with open arms our new future. There will be internal strife as in a civil war and probably external nastiness as in a world war too. Human nature naturally does not like change and will not want to move onto what is at the end of this worldly birth canal; However, it is inevitable. The past will be the past and the now will be the now.

Just look at the history of man in just the last 2000 years. Christianity, Islam, The Magna Carta, The American Revolution, The American Constitution & Bill of Rights, slavery and its demise, agriculture to an industrial economy, electricity, the atomic/hydrogen bomb, space travel, civil rights, computers that take up a whole room to computers that live in your back pocket, et cetera.

Once this new age is born it will be up to the survivors who will shape this new world. Unfortunately knowing man’s nature, it will most likely be built from the ashes of the old world.

 You can't stop progress. Those that fight it and feel the pain the most will be the ones to lazy to work in this generation. As the world passes them by they will work hard to stop it when they should have worked hard to get on the train of progress.
 When electronic ignition in cars came out many auto mechanics couldn't or wouldn't train. There are very very few service stations anymore, now there are gas stations.
 The main problem I see is the world is changing at such a fast pace even those who accept change may be passes by.

Change and progress can be good and amazing things.  Stopping it probably won't happen but the idea of directing and stopping parts dayum sure better happen.  Forgetting history and the reason for things in history is truly dangerous.  You do that you just repeat it without learning from it.

Just need to make sure we recall the Writ of Assistance and something about secure in persons, papers and effect, probable cause, sworn oath and those things.

The idea of arms and not being infringed and some places called Lexington and Concord.  Maybe the idea of being held to answer without presentment or twice put in jeopardy.

I got a bit of a suspicion things like that are at least pretty important to remember.  Progress and updating that stuff to modern times are kinda bad methinks, unless done with great care, remembrance, and reverence.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

@NEMO

 The Constitution is like the Ten Commandments, not only should not but cannot be changed.  :word:

@JM
I think you just described life - every generation reinvents itself.  I (and i suspect you) are old enough to not be included in the 'next' generation - rather the we're in the past generation.
i really, really hope they were raised well :)

Yupper Kbop.

However, due to the speed of change as JoJo writes too, it is tough to absorb and act on; Consequently, us older folks and the "delporables" are going to hang on to the past even harder which is going to bring about some nastiness.

I see the Culture Revolution ala China coming down the proverbial pike.
