Entrenching Tool
« on: June 07, 2015, 10:32:03 PM »
I need one I have decided.  Goes beyond want to need status.  No special reason but thats it.  So, which one?  I think the canvas type carry case is best but the hard plastic one is acceptable.  I have no experience with the hard plastic so no objection, but that could easily change after getting it.

I like this one, the Gerber make military entrenching tool listed as-- Gerber 22-01945 Entrenching Tool with Pick, Serrated Blade on amazon.  Copy and paste that and it should be easy found.  That one is the official military specs and quality.  I have heard that is about the best out there to get.

But they have many many on amazon and everywhere and they run from $9 to $75.  Price is a consideration but size, weight and quality are higher on the list.

Which one is best value?  Which one to get?  Educate me gentlemen.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

God created Man, Col. Sam Colt made him equal, John Moses Browning turned equality to perfection, Gaston Glock turned perfection into plastic fantastic junk.

Get one of those Spetsnaz shovels that double as a whole weapons system of itself.  :dancingBanana:

I would check out a local farm supply store if you want a tool that can be used as a shovel or pick, and built like a tank. The stuff I've seen about the Gerber hasn't been horrible, but think money is better spent on a good old small shovel/spade. Even check out rummage sales with old tools for even better deals.

Small, fold-up-able, good quality, are more of the factors.  But that russian thing caught my eye long ago.

If your gonna go with the foldable type etool. Then stick with real milspec surplus. I dont know to much about those gerbers but i have destroyed many a military style knock off in my well tilled garden. And ive dug fighting holes in rocky clay and chopped roots with my real etool. The old WWII ones are pretty tuff. But the currant style has serrated chopping blade thats easy to maintain. And it can be follded into a stool to do ones buissiness from. Its a good piece of equipment. It is a bit heavy compared to some of the good short shovels they make. But if you hit a mofo with an army etool. Mofo goes down with a savage wound. The army even teaches an etool fighting course. Lot of good options out there bud good hunting.

If you get one of the U.S. Ones you can use it to poo in a hole.

1. Dig hole
2. Fold sideways
3. Invert shovel and stick the handle to the left or the right of the hole.
4. Rest opposite ass cheek on folded portion of the shovel and use as seat.
5. Poo
6. Wipe
7. Unfold and fill hole.

Not sarcasm, not joking but I would never have thought of using one like that.  Learn something new everyday.

Now comes the sarcasm.  I could get 2 and have a regular throne.
