Title: Electric Bike - Interesting Mode of Transportation
Post by: JohnyMac on March 10, 2017, 12:14:33 PM
Okay, there you are driving down that long highway to your (Insert destination here) when your vehicle stops dead in its tracks.

You notice that all the other vehicles sharing the road with you are stopped likewise. You turn on your vehicles radio and get nada! Then it hits you, you are living a Going Home type of minute ala A.American.

Because you are the ultimate prepper you fear not! You get out of your vehicle, open your trunk and pull out your very own Mylar encased, electrical bike (http://www.digitaltrends.com/outdoors/moar-ebike-indiegogo/).

You assemble the bike, put on your BOB and you are off to that important meeting or Going Home.

On another note: I wonder if their is a small collapsible, simple internal combustion engine bike out there that could do the same thing? Just think of all of the free fuel (Non working vehicles) along the way to your destination.

I never did understand why didn't the hero of Going Home just didn't acquire a older hog and do so.  :shitStorm:  :hiding:

I've got an electric trike that I built.  It does suck a lot of power, and I'd need to carry solar panels to recharge the batteries.  Quadracycles are an interesting mode of transportation too, and they'll carry two+ people.  I use to carry a fold up bicycle in my airplane, so when I arrived at an airport I could get around without calling a cab or renting a car.  Even a kick scooter or roller skates would make traveling easier.

Thinking about small airports...When we would go cruising on Mad Max, many of the marina's we would stop at had a "cruising vehicle". Basically it was a old beat-up car that the marina loaned to cruisers.

OK I know...I am way off topic.

Well where I am going is most cruisers carried fold-up bikes like this one (https://www.westmarine.com/buy/punch-corp--sailor-3-folding-bicycle--15062276) on their boats.

If you had one in your vehicle, you could easily cover 100 miles a day.

this is a cool idea.
make it a trike so you can add batteries and carry a heavier load and you might get an excellent city transport.

A four person pedal bike like the one's used here at the beach could easily be converted to an electric two person bike.
