Bellyband
« on: August 25, 2020, 08:54:22 PM »
How much will a Belly Band holster add to a persons waist size without a weapon or magazine in it?
I'm skinny but have a big belly (wife's a great cook and I'm a non drinker) so a conventional holster will be a problem.
Waiting for my CCW Permit to come in.

Sorry JoJo but if you've got a big belly, you ain't skinny, you just don't weight much. :lmfao: I'm 155 and don't have a big belly. I use a belt mounted waist band type holster so the holster is actually behind my belt just about at the Appendix position. Without the pistol inserted, I don't know its there. With the Pistol inserted, I notice it at first but then I forget that its there. I don't have to readjust my belt but if I did I'd say it would only be about one notch. My holster is not one of those full coverage, molded to fit types. Its only about 3" by 3" and would not be good for doing gymnastics while wearing it. I push the pistol down deep into it and I've never had a problem with it falling out. I also have a Shoulder harness but I'm very uncomfortable wearing it because the pistol feels like its always going to fall out. I've adjusted it about 10 times and finally got the pistol to hang flat instead of the grip hanging down. Pulling the pistol down and out might look cool but having it fall out on the ground sure as Hell isn't going to look cool.

I've had several different ones over the years and prefer them to a classic holster due to the versatility they provide.  Pistol in front, on the side , in back, higher up the torso, lower down.  I've also found that I can use the belly band with several different firearms.  A Beretta one day, a Kimber 1911 the next.  A standard belly band won't add much to your waist empty, maybe an 1/8".  If it comes with comfort padding it will be a little thicker.   I've found the comfort padding adds about a pants size when I include the firearm (any of the ones that I carry).  I wear it normally inside of jeans, on the hip, with the firearm grip exposed above the belt.   The same as with any holster, you dress to conceal the firearm when carrying concealed.  This usually means a loose fitting shirt and pants that are roughly a size larger to accommodate the firearm at the hip.  There are other options such as ankle holsters.  I've tried them but they don't work well with the size of firearm that I prefer.  If you are carrying a smaller firearm they may work fine.  Trial and error will be how you finally find what really works for you personally.  Everyone is different in body shape and what they want to carry.  My body is similar to yours.  Hope this helps answer your questions.

My wife teases me about how skinny my arms and legs are and I have no hips so I wear suspenders. That's why the Bellyband holster is needed. :lmfao:

Thanks Sledge that's the answer I was looking for.

Look at the link below.  If you want it, shoot me an address and it will be in the mail.  It fits me (mostly) but I just don't like it.  If it does not work for you, ask her or if someone else here can use it .   .   ..

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

Thanks Nemo but I have a full size gun. I appreciate the thought. Maybe someone else could use it.

It works with a 3.5 inch barrel Springfield 1911.

Anyone else?

My legs are so skinny that I sued them for non-support. :lmfao:
