Atomic .300 Blackout 260 gr Subsonic Ammo
« on: June 03, 2020, 05:01:22 PM »
Have been trying different ammo and these will now be my subsonic go to round. Flawless functioning in a Sig MCX pistol and Sig M400 elite pistol either suppressed or not. Accurate and no keyholes since both have a 1-5" twist. Ammo calls for 1-8" or faster.
FYI - they have a .308 Winchester suppressed round, same bullet, does not stabilize in a 1-10" rifle.

Atomic ammo is pricey, but then again there aren't a lot of subsonic choices in certain calibers.  Johny is proponent of their 5.56 subsonic ammo, which I need to order one of these days.

Anyways, what is the range for adequate accuracy in .300 BLK ?

I was limited to the 100 yard range, both had red dots on them. 3 inch groups, no keyholing.

Thank you, that's good to know.  What suppressor were you using?  I have a Hybrid which I've used only with .22 and 9mm thus far.  I'm planning on testing it on a 5.56 AR, and an AUG.  I'd like to try it on a 7.62, but I'll need to get another mount...$$$.  Been thinking about either a .300 BLK carbine or pistol, but I'm hesitant about investing in another caliber.  I've also been considering an upper in .458 socom.... again $$$.

Using a YHM resonator. works well on this platform. Originally bought it for a FN scar 17 but the poi change was too much with the thin barrel.
I also have a AAC omega K 45 that I will try on the m400, just need time to do it.

I use subsonic 5.56 by Atomic in my home defense weapon along with my Dead Air can. I have never had a chambering issue. The 112 gr bullet does start to keyhole at 35-yards BUT I am using the round shorter than 25-feet. So for me, it isn't  a long range round by any means. Just like having several hammers that I use for different purposes, I have another rifle for that.

The Hybrid on a Mac 11 is very nice, though it would still be loud indoors, and accurate with Aguila subsonic loads up to 25 yards.  We also put it on a Ruger MK III and it was impressively quiet.  Still waiting on a couple of stamps for some dedicated .22 suppressors.  It's been nearly 10 months for one of the .22 suppressors, while the Hybrid was only 6 months.  I'm waiting on a Form 1 for a suppressor build too, that should come within a few weeks.
