AR15 Sling
« on: January 06, 2016, 06:29:45 PM »
I just installed an endplate for a one point sling on my AR15. My next step is to buy a sling for it but I'm not sure what length sling I will need. Some advertised slings don't give you thier length.
Any thoughts?

I think they are in general adjustable.  I do not have one but seems like they surely would be.

If you need a second magazine, its time to call in air support.

Nemo is correct. Slings offered are almost all adjustable.

Please check out Magpul slings as they can go from single point to double is seconds. The best of both worlds.

Thanks guys I'll check that out. The reason I asked was that I've seen slings offered in different sizes. There are no preppers around me and those who own guns own shotguns for hunting and pistols for self defence. All of my information comes from the net so I'm limited as to where I get my information.

I moved from the police state of NJ to (LSD) Lower Slower Delaware and I love it. I'm 4 miles from the bay and 10 miles to the ocean. When SHTF we'll be eating alot of fish.

JoJo

Everybody is spot on...get a Magpul that is a single/two point sling.  It works properly as both. Once you do you will find tha single points are great when actively shooting but are not great shen you want a sling your gun for carry.  Also they dont help when stabilizing your gun for precise/longer shots.  When carrying your rifle for any extended period to will thruly thank the fact that you can go to a two point.

I havnt used a single point in quite a long time. I prefer a two point that is quickly adjustable.  I use Blue Force Gear VCAS (Vickers) slings.  They dont adversely effect me in close quarters situations or around vehicles and they give me extra stability in intermediate range.

I am not telling you to go 2-point just because I do. The Magpul sling will give you the ability to do both so you can figure out what system you prefer.

CJS06, your comment , "The Magpul sling will give you the ability to do both so you can figure out what system you prefer." is Right On. This is exactly why I purchased the Magpul sling. In the end, I found the 2 point much more to my liking.

I have always wanted to buy a Vickers Sling. Here is a promotional vid

I had originally gotten caught up in the 'tacti-cool' nonsense of single point slingery and it is exactly that... nonsense. To elaborate upon CS's comments I personally feel that a single point is exclusively useful for weapon retention vs actually aiding the user in carrying said weapon. Get a Single/Double thingie cause I said so and try it as a single, you'll hate it but you'll look cool!
