I know MOST (or all) of you guys are avid gun lovers (am aswell) but you have to admit. you can stock ammo until you die of lead poisoning.
IF you dont die from lead poisoning you will eventually run outta ammo. if so find the one you like print it and keep it.. dont forget your hand tools boys!

I see where you're going with this, and I do love a good crossbow (Excaliber, the only crossbow that should be considered for post-apocalyptic endeavors, IMO.)
...BUT, the way I see , there's no excuse for not having a 'lifetime' supply of .22lr.

I have a bow but limited arrow shafts. I need to get some more.
With that said, we have enough powder, bullets and primers to keep us in ammo for awhile. I have also put away Lyman bullet molds for all calibers we will be loading. I go to local tire stores and pick up buckets of wheel weights which when it gets too much I melt down and put into ingots.
Last, I have a few #'s of FFG and FFFG BP ;) put away for my BP rifles (Flint and Cap lock) and other "stuff". I have been buying pure lead from the local plumbing wholesale store for round ball.

Actually this also brings up the question of how will everybody handle the ammo shortage after the election?

To Sledges point: Buy a .22LR drop-in conversion unit for your AR. I am totally stoked with mine. Mags are pricy though at $30- a piece.

Best 200 bux I spent was on a 22lr conversion kit .. every ar I own will come with that... It just makes common sence..... There will always be a way to make ammo...

lmao.. well I'm actually thinking of using a bow or xbow before the ammo runs dry. I'll save ammo for raid/defencive (real) situations. Archery is a good skill to have. not to mention it will scare the shit outta people.. or even better, make them underestimate you.

spend 20 bucks a week on 22lr
fucking generations to come will have ammo

Or a pound of powder a week and 500 primers, you will always be able to find lead to cast bullets. Maybe a matchlock rifle and an make your own BP.

[/quote] My Sig P226 can take a 22 conversion kit. Maybe I should consider investing in one. Of course , they're like 300.00, so I'd probably be better off just getting a 22 pistol. (already have the rifle) ( I'm still having problems with the whole posting a quote thing, so bear with me. The quote was from Special=K )

Whatever knife I have on me or whatever object I can pickup and tool into something else. I debated on the whole bow or crossbow thing for awhile, but hell I've already got more shit than I need to carry. If I were going to dig in sure, but I'm not so it's a waste.

the orignal post was how to build your own shit. that way you can actually make it at your BOL while actually still having rounds. :)
