Any refrigeration guys on here. Looking a build a somewhat complex system, and need some input. To give you an idea liquid over feed single stage no liquid pumps. Possibly capable of going to -20 f.

There are some great refrig units out there that work off 12/24 volt, kerosene or propane.

No help from me. Best I could say it find a spring and build a spring house. That will get into the low 40s in many places but nowhere near your numbers.

Never heard of a spring that flows very hard, cold ice.

Crosley icyball may be close to what your looking for. Stupid simple no moving parts. Not idiot proof though due to use of ammonia.

I've been thinking about trying to design a system, but I think I'm going to end up building an ice house honestly. Less maintenance and worry about spare parts.

Ok so I'm in the process of working a deal on a 45kw generator. 220 and 110 volt a/c. What I want to build is a large refrigerated space -20, 34, and 50 to 55 degrees. Planning on using r-290 as I can achieve the Temps I want without over working my compressor/s. I'm not sure about single or two stage yet. It will be a flooded system. Not sure about what compressor to run. I would love to run a screw but it's very cost prohibitive. The 34 degree space is going to be the largest as I want to use it as a kill and processing room for meat.

What meat market you going to be supplying? Seems like alot more than the neighborhood. A ginny that big ought to run a fridge big enough to cold out the high school gym.

I have 43 acres, which will soon have livestock on it. If I kill a cow or pig, or even a deer. I can store fresh meat. The generator is a pro driven unit for my tractor. But I the cool thing about them is the run at 540 rpm input speed. It's going to be the heart of my hydroelectric set up.

Its been a few years now but my last " camping trip " we used a fresh water spring to chill the beer.

Not something effective but it'll keep just about everything that's sealed at a much lower temp than outside. Around 60 degrees. Just food for thought.

Honestly, I just want to follow this thread because it's piqued my interest.

I think I must have been some kind of weird mole person in another life because this is one of many situations where I find myself thinking "you'll be better off if you move underground". But seriously. If you were to sink your prep/storage room you would be able to maintain a low temperature using much less juice.

I have 50 buff Orrington's that will be laying within then next couple of months then they are getting decided into 3 or 4 different flocks. I'm still fight to get my beaver problem under control. Those little bastards can flood it faster than I can rip out the dams. The wife wants goats but my fences are far from goat proof. The water should be ran from the well within the next month then I'm putting my septic in. Building a house out of pocket sucks more than I thought it would.

Beavers are like cockroaches. The only way to make 'em stop is to stop them.

A rather liberal tree hugger type of guy down the street had a family (One lodge) of beavers in his pond. He thought it was so cute. They were cute till there is now three lodges and they have damned up the outlet of his pond to the point that the pond is creeping closer and closer to his house.

Well he blew up the damn which caused property damage down stream of him. Once he took care of his neighbor'$$$ he bought a "Hav-a Heart" trap. Trapped some of them and moved them out of the area. Got caught by a Environmental Officer and got a ticket on his third trip to the State Game Lands - Again some more $$$$.

Well he has resorted to my original suggestion which costs nearly nothing - He shot 'em.

He sat on his porch at dusk several months ago and dispatched what he thought was the right amount. No fuss...No musss. Since gunfire is very common around these parts and there is only one Environmental Officer who only hangs out at the state game lands. Nobody is the wiser
