Ok, so I'm asking for help
« on: March 08, 2012, 09:25:38 AM »
Normally I've no problem with innovative our enginuitive ideas.
Getting to the point: my wife is addicted to 5 hour energies. I've collected about 15 of the tiny bottles I've been beating my head against the wall for uses of them. So farr no prodigy like ideas so farr this is what I come up with.

Pill bottles (vitamins)
Containers for tannic acid extra oil and other liquids
Little survival/sewing kits
ingredients for about 2 fires per bottle.

Your .02 is more than welcomed it's encouraged.

Could use them for spices or types of powders. That's all I got so far.

I wonder if cooking oil would leak out of them.. I am always looking for a better bottle for olive oil.

You could make one into micro fishing kit and use the bottle as a bobber.

They're meant to hold liquid so I doubt they'd leak.

A man much wiser than me said "if you're gonna run a M4 you'll need a swimming pool full of CLP."

Not a bad idea Reaver.

I thought the question was going to be, how to get your wife off of the 5 hour energy things. lol

Carry your loose fine gold in there... helps hide the valuables and helps for making change in trades... i dunno... i have zero gold.....

I think they could work great for smoke grenades. fill it 3/4 with the smoke mix. Make a stopper for the top (leaving a gap between the stopper and the cap for your fuse) where your fuse can run through, also make sure that there is a hole about the size of a toothpick in the stopper otherwise they occasionally pop instead of smoke (this also allows it to get some oxygen, I'm led to believe). For the stopper you want something that isn't flammable and remains rigid, I find that plaster (like you would use for a cast) works well.

Lead may be worth more than gold after the SHTF, but gold would make some awesome bullet as it is denser and harder than lead. (Think U238 is naval chain guns for even more extreme)

Some may even beg to be shot.  Wonder if it's better than silver for werewolves?

This actually brings up something I've been discussing a lot at home recently. Amongst preppers we often make mention of how things that people currently attach value to (whether it be precious metals and stones, fiat currency or even fine china) will be near worthless once SHTF. I can't say that I completely agree. There will always be those who find value in what others don't. Take us for example and people in your immediate circle. How many times in your life have you repurposed something that someone else didn't want (that's exactly what this particular thread is about)? How many times have you decided "hmm, I don't actually need the newest piece of technology that has just been released, I'm rather going to spend that money on hand tools". You see where I'm heading here? Whether it be out of habit/conditioning, prepping for a time when the situation has been corrected or just an attempt at the comfort that comes from holding onto that little piece of what your life once was you will always find someone who attaches importance to the trinkets and baubles that, technically speaking, have no real value.

thedigininja, PM's are just a way to transfer wealth from one period of time to another.

There are three most talked about events: SHTF, WROL and TEOTWAWKI. IMO, Silver will be useful during a SHTF scenario. Not so much in a WROL event and absolutely worthless in a TEOTWAWKI period.

When both silver and gold will become valuable is post any of these events as we climb out of the the drama de jour.

Again, you transported something small of great value through the drama porthole to the other side. You will be able to buy draft horses for a farm, tractor, truck, start a business, etc.

I'm just going to add that pure silver would be useful in all situations as long as you have the proper equipment to make colloidal silver. If nobody assigns any value to it, you can always make it into an 'antibiotic'.

Tie her to a chair or radiator.  Let her go hard core cold turkey on them.  Use the $3 each to save half for a Caribbean Island vacation and the rest to buy supplies.  Or buy your own island in the Caribbean.
