Anyone Here Do Checkering

I think I might like some done on some wood grips.  Thoughts  on the wood, overall and checkering of them Gents?

This is my EDC firearm.  I purchased a set of Hogue rubber grips for it and they are a bit large for my hands.  The original ones were a bit damaged.
