Johnny I don't know where this one came from it came with the kit. So far in working it not a big fan of polymer. A TM lower is going to be on its way when I save up some more play money. Between paying off the credit card from the rpd and the 20 ak mags oh yeah and the baby it takes a whole lot longer  :lmfao: But for a person with minimal tools the poly 80s are totally doable. Really with enough time a sharp knife a steady hand and a brace and bit you can do it. That being said my metal working tools hate it :violin:

Has that swirly polymer look and I see white polymer to indicate material to be removed.

Ya I don't know enough about ARs to know that they all come with a removable trigger guard. But the reason Ares Armor was raided was over the white inlay in the polymer lowers. Once a gun, always a gun in the BATFE eyes. They think those lowers were created and then the white areas were added. That would violate laws. Total BS but ya.

If these are one of those lowers the white was there before the black. But yeah if its not an wtf approved 80 they are asking for trouble. I read up on the ep armory that johnny mentioned.

What tools did you use to install the barrel? And did you check head space or are you just hoping?

I believe the AK47 is the true weapon for women and chieldren.

It's that faint repeating sound you hear when you use said rock on your head.  :troutSlap:

Hey don't be a stranger you have the number!!

For everyone looking to build on an 80 go aluminum same tools involved. The brand-new cutting bits I got were melting the polymer! If you have access to a working ar use it to make templates, and go al. Check gun broker they are out there cheap!! And if you have/access to a welder steel flats are available provided you want to tap the buffer tower. Cost of the kit was $550 I had to buy a charging handle and gas tube for it. Explore gun building and ask questions on the several forums. Which is where this kit came from, learning kids is what prepping is all about.

550 for a full unregistered AR + the tools to make more...

and I felt all special for replacing the sights on my 10/22...

I picked this rifle up because it was cheap, and I had intended on building my son a starter rifle so it worked out. But polymer is not my first choice for a rifle build. I'm going to put a better lower together so I can engrave it with his name and birthdate. I want him to have a family heirloom not something he can sell for beer money and smokes when he's in college (he is my boy after all :lmfao:) But the point of the tread was to show that you can put a good rifle together on a budget, with very little tooling. Now to see how it shoots and how the lower holds up to the rigors of being a tool in my hands. :lmfao: I think the lower won't last too long but it might. Of course it never will be an ak so...... I'm.. I mean my boy is gonna do his best to break it.

What's headspace?

The space between the bolt face and a predetermined line in the chamber. Too much and the gun goes boom not bang.

I just assumed he was a dumb ass.

But Bull shitting aside, what tools did you use to install the barrel? I'm assuming a torque wrench but I didn't read that in your list of tools you used. I'm just wondering what tools I would need to buy if I decided to build an upper.
Title: Re: ar 15 80%

Armors wrench and a torque wrench but there isn't much point in building your own upper its cheaper to buy it built.

For the record, headspace is set on an AR15 barrel at the factory when they press on the barrel extension.

Fantastic right?

What if you buy your own barrel and install it yourself?

A fucking retard could build one.  Just look at Gay Patriot.

Seriously, though, GAP knows more about firearms than anybody ever ever met and talked to, not to mention knows how to basically build them from scratch.  He could walk into a hardware store and come out with some shit that would make a functioning firearm, probably slam-fire open bolt full auto, but you get the point.

When I have a question, I call him.
